| Visa / Master Card has
released a new directive that came out in March of 2010; If
you are using our Point of Sale to run your business and are
processing credit cards through the Point of Sale,
YOU MUST UPGRADE by January 2012. This new rule applies
to ALL Point of Sale systems sold in the US.
Download the
Update and Update Instructions
Whether you are interfacing through pcCharge
or Mercury, this is a mandatory upgrade being mandated by Visa /
Master Card and American Express to become PCI Compliant.
If you have not upgraded and do NOT have
the new Point of Sale in place by January 2012, you will face
heavy fines and the loss
of your Visa / Master Card charge capabilities.
There is no exception to this requirement.
Your software will be
TESTED by
Visa / Master Card every 90 days that it is compliant!
Just so you
understand, ALL Point of Sale software or any software that
processes a credit card will be tested, over the Internet, at
random times, in your store by the Credit Card Companies. It
will test for PCI compliance. If it is not compliant, you risk
large fines and revocation of your credit card processing
abilities.
In an effort to help
reduce cost for this upgrade, we have setup a special pricing
program. The earlier you purchase your upgrade, the less it will
cost you.
After over 9 months of development,
testing and compliance certification, the expected final release
of our
Version 11 - PCI compliant version
is scheduled to be released on January 2012 - There is also
many new features added to the
version 11 beyond just the PCI compliance.
The cost for getting PCI compliant was an
enormous undertaking and very expensive cost to DotDude.com,
Inc. We have attempted to keep our upgrade as low as possible
and spread the development and PCI compliance cost over our
existing and future customers.
Questions and Answers from the Source

Note: Serial
to USB adapters have been tested with the above PIN Pads, yet we
have discovered that not all are equally successful. The
TRIPPLITE U209-000-R USB and Edgeport’s line of USB to Serial
converters have proven reliable. When specifying the connection
type in the PinPadConfig class, make sure to specify Serial even
if you are using a USB to Serial converter.
